Under the microscope – David Moyes 0

1375963241165Silly season has certainly not been a let down this year, as we have had drama from the start and it more than likely will continue to the end.

One club and manager under the microscope right now is David Moyes and Manchester United. Moyes has taken over from Manchester legend Sir Alex Ferguson aka Fergie. Fergie left behind an amazing legacy and gigantic shoes that probably will never be filled. 27 years of coaching mighty Manchester United, and those were 27 amazing years that definitely made Manchester United what it is today.

Moyes knows that he will be watched and criticized for every thing he does, and with this great club comes great pressure. Moyes has had his hands full since taking over, and he has been trying to keep busy in the transfer market but unfortunately all of his targets are not seeing the allure of Manchester United and are going elsewhere.

Moyes has had 6 of his transfer targets turn him down, the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Marco Veratti, Arturo Vidal, Luka Modric, Claudio Marchisio, and most recently Cesc Fabregas. With all these transfers failingĀ  it is certainly a sign of how powerful of a figure Sir Alex Ferguson was, as I am sure if Fergie was at the helm of MUFC transfers would have been signed, sealed, and delivered by now. As of now the only card left on the table is Fellaini, his former player from Everton, who would be a great addition to the club.

Along with this unsuccessful transfer campaign, Wayne Rooney has expressed his unhappiness with the club and his desire to possibly move on. Perhaps Rooney is concerned with the playing time he will get and is threatened by RVP’s presence as the dutch forward was the main man for them season and Rooney was left in his shadow. Rooney could be crying out for attention, and is poking at Moyes to see what he will do, and Moyes needs to sort this situation out as it could harm the club this season.

Is this a sign of Manchester United heading downwards? Perhaps they may struggle to make the top 4 with Man City, Spurs, and Chelsea making some good transfer dealings this summer. I think not as fans cannot forget that Manchester United’s present squad won the Premier League last season 11 points clear of the 2nd place team, which is a significant victory.

The captain of the ship has changed, but the crew is the same, and a strong crew it is indeed. Moyes is a professional and was chosen by the club to get the job done, and with Fergie whispering some hints and such in his ear, I am sure they will do just fine, but will it be enough?

What does Moyes need to do to silence the critics? Make a marquee signing? Win the league in his first year? Keep Rooney? Let Rooney go??
