An Arsenal without firepower 0

higuainArsenal have struggled over the seasons to bring in big names signings, as Wenger and the London club are not as thrifty with their spending as say Chelsea or Manchester City are. Yet, Wenger manages to get his team to rally together and make top 4 season after season, almost missing out this year by topping london rivals Tottenham by a slim 1 point.

Last season Wenger did some fantastic buys, bringing in Santi Cazorla the Spanish magician, Lukas Podolski, Frenchman Olivier Giroud, who was in form playing in Ligue 1, and then in the January transfer window swooped up another Spaniard, left back, Nacho Monreal. Everyone had high expectations of these players as they are all extremely talented, but unfortunately for Arsene they did not adjust to the Premier League quite as quickly as expected or at least people hoped. The exception of the group was Santi Cazorla, who looked as if he has been playing in the Prem with Arsenal for ages, and he was certainly their man of the season.

As the transfer window opened this season, Arsenal were in the running for Real Madrid striker, Gonzalo Higuain to help provide that firepower up top as Giroud could not find his form. It seemed as if Arsenal had made the decision that this season they would dip their hands in their cash and spend big to win big,  compete for the title and compete with the European clubs in the Champions League.

This excitement was short lived, as disappointment for the Arsenal fans set in as the Higuain chase seems to be going in circles, as Madrid seem to be waiting to get a replacement for Higuain, and if one is not found he will more than likely not be sold. This leaves Arsenal fans frantic, pulling their hair out wanting some sign of big things to happen, as clubs all around them are splashing the cash and deals are now being confirmed, and as of now Arsenal have only attained 20 year old Yaya Sanogo from Ligue 2 team Auxerre on a free transfer. He could be a diamond in the rough for the club but perhaps later down the road not what the fans are looking for at the moment.

As players are being bought and sold everywhere, it leaves Arsenal fans wondering what their manager is waiting on and they worry that they will make no big signings this season and fall behind and have a disappointing season. There is still a good chunk of time left in the transfer window, and Arsenal fans need to trust that Arsene is doing what he believes is best for the team and will make the right signings, for the right price, and in doing so perhaps he will be able to deliver some much needed silverware to the Gunners faithful.
